Mike Hauser, owner of Twin Cities Sports Promotion, speaks at Friday’s dinner at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown. Hauser’s business was presented the chamber’s Tourism Partner Award.

JOHNSTOWN - Twin Cities Sports Promotion received the Tourism Partner Award at the Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry's annual awards dinner at the Holiday Inn Friday night.

Chamber Tourism Director Alison Swartz said Twin Cities is a "hidden gem" that has spent thousands bringing in visitors from across the east.

Since 1990, Swartz said, Twin Cities Sports Promotion and its owner, Mike Hauser, have promoted more than 100 sports events.

"Six years ago, Twin Cities Sports Promotions started the annual Adirondack Outdoorsman Show, which is held at the Johnstown Loyal Order of the Moose," Swartz said. "This event brings in thousands of people to our area each year."

Hauser said he greatly appreciates being honored for doing something he loves. He said his business began as a hobby, and through the help of his family and other local businesses, it grew into something more.

"It's a labor of love," he said. "It's something I'm passionate about."

Hauser thanked his family for allowing him to chase down his passion and turn it into a business. He said the award should go to his wife and family for their support.

"It turned out to be something bigger than I ever thought it would be," he said.
